Alternatives to eBay for online auctions

For years eBay has been the only online auction site that people used. One reason is its traffic not to mention the brand name eBay. But as of late there are more and more of us that are looking for other sources to auction from, why? Could be due to eBay has started to be unfair to some of their regular clients, or is it the fact that they seem to have changed their fees so many times over the years and now it's almost like they are targeting the BIG players only and have forgotten about the LITTLE guys? We like to call it market intoxication, similar to getting drunk on power.

Some of the changes they have put in place over the last few years are:

  1. There have been numerous fee increases
  2. EBooks and other non physical items can no longer be sold
  3. Sellers are no longer able to leave neutral or negative feedback on buyers accounts.
  4. The higher volume sellers get special discounts and added benefits.

Whatever your reason for looking we have put together a list of a few options for other sites, some have been around for many years but do to the hype of eBay no one has really heard of them.

121 Bid

A US and UK based free alternative to eBay, they brag about their completely free auctions, buy it now sales and its classified listings. This site hasn't received much attention from Google or alexa even though it has been online since 2004. It has received some good reviews and there are a decent number of products being listed.

Auction Warehouse

This American auction site has been around since 1999 and DMOZ describes it as a place to buy and sell computer peripherals, but to be honest everything you can think of is up for offer and it gets the average amount of traffic.

Auction Ad City

This new online auction site is based out of the US and started in 2008; this is an auction and classifieds online marketplace where anything can be listed including businesses. To list in the classified section will cost 50 cent us, which get you five pictures and permanent parking; other enhancements cost between 10 cents and 10 dollars us. It is also free to list on the site and has many listing enhancements available. This site also has a subscription payment plan that allows a seller to list as much as they want for free as long as they have a subscription. Overall there is not much listed but there is still more than most start up auction site. If you like to get in on the ground floor of things then this is the site for you, grow with them.

There are many auction sites out there these are just a few of our favourites, Online Auction Sites Review has a list of the top 10 auction sites that you can compare with eBay and each other.

No matter who you choose to use Wholesale Mega Store can provide you with the products descriptions and drop ship service, all you have to do is sell on these sites for profit.
